w32 welchia
Now, w32 welchia is strange but interesting piece of software. It uses at least two Windows vulnerabilities - DCOM RPC on port 135 and WebDav on port 80 and attempts to find active machines to infect using ICMP echo requests. That's smart, but the strangest part of w32 welchia
activity is that there are only two things it does. First, it downloads a DCOM RPC patch from Microsoft and installs it. Second, it removes w32.blaster.worm. I'm really not sure what is it - maybe some kind of evolution?
