Webroot Software and EarthLink just released the second version of their joint SpyAudit Report, which tracks the growth of Spyware on consumer PCs. So far this year, the companies' SpyAudit detection programs have discovered about 500,000 system monitors (programs which trace and record a PC user's computer activity) and Trojan horses in roughly 1.5 million scans. There's an average of 27.5 Spyware traces per machine. Latest results: Total number of scans: 2,071,777 Instances of Spyware per scanned PC: 26.5 Total instances of Spyware found: 54,814,563
