IPInsight
IPInsight is a process or IE Browser Helper Object that monitors addresses entered into web forms, ostensibly to try to make a database of physical locations of IP addresses. IPInsight has the following variants:
IPInsight / Ipinsigt: a reimplementation of the original Sentry as a BHO, provided by IPINSIGT.DLL in the Windows folder. This code is based on the Transponder parasite from Mindset Interactive.
IPInsight / Sentry: installs a process Sentry.exe and datafile Sentry.ini in the Windows folder. This IPInsight variant is somewhat stealth.
IPInsight is an Internet Explorer Browser Helper Object that monitors addresses entered into web forms. The process creates a database of physical locations pertaining to encountered IP addresses and sends the data to third party affiliates. The application typically installs as a bundled component with several freeware utilities; however, IPInsight has also been known to utilize ActiveX drive-by downloads in order to initialize a forced and/or perceivably hidden installation. IPInsight may be associated with benign/unwanted/unsolicated software installations and general system slowdown.
