Other than replacing the IE search feature with a Chinese site likely to be incomprehensible to non-Chinese users, CnsMin is not overtly harmful, but it uses extremely anti-social methods

CnsMin is a keyword-lookup application that replaces the search feature of Internet Explorer's address bar. The program copies queries entered into the search bar and attempts to redirect them to predesignated locations, often returning results in Chinese characters. The application typically installs as a bundled component with several freeware utilities; however, CnsMin has also been known to utilize ActiveX drive-by downloads in order to initialize a forced and/or perceivably hidden installation. CnsMin may be associated with modified browser settings, hijacked web pages (typically to unsolicited and irrelevant locations, many of which include blatant advertisements and/or adult content), unsolicited advertisements (typically occurring as popup or pop under windows), decelerated web browsing, and general system slowdown.The application is distributed by 3721.com, a known purveyor of adware systems and components.
